BÉNI–MAVIVI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

In partnership with a specialized engineering firm, IKAS GLOBAL contributed to the technical studies for the rehabilitation of the existing runway at Beni–Mavivi Airport and the development of a new-generation airport infrastructure designed to support the long-term growth of the region. Located in North Kivu, one of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s most strategic provinces, the project sought to improve operational safety, increase airport capacity and provide modern infrastructure capable of supporting both civilian and economic activities. The ambition extended far beyond rehabilitating existing infrastructure. The project envisioned a modern airport capable of becoming a catalyst for regional development, improving mobility, strengthening trade and supporting the economic transformation of eastern DRC. Every engineering decision was guided by safety, operational efficiency and long-term resilience. IKAS GLOBAL participated in the technical and architectural studies alongside its project partners, contributing to the development of design solutions aligned with international engineering standards while considering the region’s geographical, environmental and operational context. Due to the ongoing security situation affecting North Kivu, the implementation phase has been placed on hold.
